Trauma Sensitive Yoga

Trauma Sensitive Yoga

Trauma and chronic stress is a widespread experience that will affect many people in many different ways. It can be really common for people living with traumatic stress to experience feelings of disconnection from their body and the present moment.

Isy facilitates individual and group TSY sessions to support connection, regulation and wellbeing. Isy calls on over a decade of yoga teaching experience to tailor sessions to meet individual participants needs and goals. Isy facilitates sessions that are mental-health aware, body-positive and queer-affirming.

Isy is specialised in Trauma Centre Trauma Sensitive Yoga (TCTSY). This method is an evidence based adjunctive treatment for people living with trauma symptoms, Complex Trauma or Posttraumatic Stress Disorder. The method of TCTSY is based on somatics, regulation practices, gentle yoga, as well as, attachment theory, neuroscience, polyvagal theory and trauma theory. In sessions this looks like participant agency, choice making, invitational language, interoception, non-coercion and shared experience.

Isy offers organisational, group and individualised TCTSY sessions. Personal or professional support people are welcome to participate at the individual’s request.

TCTSY sessions can be done in person or online via zoom.
Self-managed NDIS clients are welcome to utilise TCTSY sessions as part of their personalised plans.

For more information about TCTSY development and research, you can head to the Trauma Centre website here.

If you are interested in discussing personalised details, or have further questions, feel free to contact Isy to see if TCTSY might be useful for you.
